A Ray of Hope

You’ve got to love when a small market baseball team finally proves they can play with the big boys. Once again the Twins and the A’s are doing what they do somehow, but the biggest surprise has to be Tampa Bay Rays. Perennially penciled in as the last place team in the tough AL East, the Rays are proving they have the sting to make it into the playoffs. I know most of you are thinking I’m probably hitting the sauce with this blog and that we haven’t hit the All-Star break yet, but when you have a pitching staff like the Rays; anything is possible.
Anchored by Kazmir and Howell, both with an ERA under 3, the Rays are in second place and playing winning baseball. That coupled with defense and the Rays could make short work of any team in the playoffs. I’m not giving them crown yet, that’s reserved for my Cubs who were swept by them last week, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they found their way to the ALCS.
Good work Rays, it’s been a long time coming.
Keeping with the theme “Which team has been the biggest surprise in the MLB”
Twin
A’s
Rays
Marlins
White Sox
Cubs
I’m picking the Rays, You? Comment back with your pick.
