Jim Edmonds…Lightning in a bottle?

Lightning in a bottle, the term that Cubs’ fans where hoping would describe Jim Edmonds, and up to this point he’s been that and more.

While hitting just over the Mendoza line in San Diego the Cubs needed a centerfielder after Alfonzo Soriano went down, and Jimmy Baseball was available.  At first I didn’t think Jim had much left in the tank, I’ve seen him struggle in the Lou for the last couple of years, but after his 2 homer effort against the rival White Sox, I’m becoming a believer.  As a Cub, Jim has defied father time and is hitting over 300…gravy considering we picked him up for his fielding.  Now don’t get me wrong I’m not writing him in as an All-Star and it still seems bizarre that this “Cardinal” dawns Cubbie Blue, but ever since the pick up the Cubs and Jim have been playing lights out.  He might not have much left in the tank but so far it’s been the pick up of the year.  Good work Jim, and congrats on the resurgence.

Edmunds is a stud. Hope he (and the whole team) can keep it up through October.
