Cubs Cursed?
Posted June 13, 2008 at 11:11 am by Dave
With the NBA finals all but wrapped up, and the US Open providing little drama, I figured a little MLB talk might be a good subject, specifically the Cubs date with destiny…maybe?
It’s hard not to know that it’s been 100yrs since the Northsiders won a World Series, and with the best record in baseball, I knew fate had to come into play. From Bartman, to oft-injured prodigies of Prior and Wood, this years’ Cubs seemed more resilient, a club ready to reverse the “almighty curse”. Winning with character and professionalism, this year’s squad has Cubs fans expecting baseball in October; enter Alfonso Soriano and a broken hand…ouch!
Now I’m not throwing in a towel, and championship teams are built on overcoming adversity, but this might be a little to much for the Cubs to overcome? The only saving grace is that the Baby Birds lost their slugger for three weeks, and I don’t wish injury on anyone but maybe fate is on our side??? Or maybe it was a sign of compassion from an unknown force. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
Keeping with the theme “Worst Cubs Curse Moments”
Bartman going for the foul ball forcing a game 7 against the Marlins
The 69 collapse
Mark Prior and Kerry Wood’s inability to stay healthy
Sammy Sosa’s me attitude
Trading away Lou Brock, Rafael Palmerio, Joe Carter, Greg Matthews
Mine still is and always will be Mark Prior and Kerry Wood’s health (Carlos Zambrano was third in that rotation…sick!)
